In developmentDaily Practice: From Habit Design to an Intentional Day
A guided course in the Compass Daily Management form: bring in the day’s calendar, choose the frog and the law of three, schedule today’s actions in quarter hours around what is already booked, review, publish, print and close the day — a few minutes each morning.
Begin Module 01Learning objectives
By the end you will have produced each of these.
- Calculate your remaining working hours with the Time = Life arithmetic and write one sentence naming what you will no longer spend them on.
- Design one habit that passes the sheet’s four-part design test: cue and location, anchor, friction, and immediate evidence.
- Name one frog and no more than three law-of-three tasks for a selected date.
- Letter every action A to E, so that no B is scheduled ahead of an open A.
- Letter one action E (stopped) and one D that names a person and a date.
- Bring the selected day’s appointments into the form as protected blocks, or deliberately plan without a calendar.
- Place the frog and the A actions in 15-minute blocks on the 24-hour clock, frog first, without overlapping an appointment.
- Review the day, and publish only after reading exactly what will be written to the calendar.
- Print or save the selected day so that the date in the header and the file name match the sheet.
- Close the day with a written review and carry every open A action into tomorrow’s sheet.
The flow you will learn
The course teaches the Daily Management form: eight short steps from your calendar to the close of the day, each answer entered once. Steps 1, 2 and 6 are optional.
- 1. Connect calendarOptional. Google or Outlook (a labeled simulation in this prototype) or a real, read-only .ics file. Or skip and plan by hand.
- 2. Import the selected dayThe day’s appointments arrive as locked, protected blocks; private ones show only as “Private event”.
- 3. PrioritizeWrite the law of three once; make one of them the Daily Frog with one click.
- 4. ScheduleTick the Today Queue, quick-add the rest, letter A to E (D delegates, E stops), then place the frog and A actions on the 24-hour quarter-hour clock around your appointments.
- 5. ReviewOne check of the whole day: anything to fix opens the step that fixes it.
- 6. Publish to CalendarOptional. See exactly what will be written; nothing is written until you confirm, and only the form’s own blocks.
- 7. Print or downloadOne click to print or save the selected day as a PDF; a text copy or an .ics copy.
- 8. Perform and close (ARC)Tick work as it is done, note what happened, and close the day: open A actions and the habit carry into tomorrow.
The worked example
One leader runs through all eleven modules: the CEO / President from the Hero Journey, whose company faces a late ERP go-live while escalations keep landing on their desk. Each module shows the same leader’s entries, from their Time = Life number to the review at the end of the day.
